What is Miss Fashionetta …
Miss Fashionetta® is a biennial scholarship pageant presented in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated in Bakersfield, CA to inspire and mentor young ladies as they advance from high school to college. Participants complete self-esteem classes, a mentoring program, career exploration, church fellowship, community service and academic enrichment workshops. The program culminates in a pageant where the young ladies showcase their leadership, poise and artistic talent. The title of MISS FASHIONETTA is conferred upon the participant with the highest performance score. The criteria for the performance score include participation in activities on the program calendar; amount of funds raised with sponsorships and ads; academic performance in school; leadership within the group of participants; and hours of community service outside the program.
