We welcome families and groups that want to work with us to establish a Legacy Award in memory of someone. The Legacy Award is a way for families and groups to keep the legacy of a loved one alive with a lasting gesture in the form of a scholarship that can be awarded over an extended number of years to an extended number of students. The family, group and the public can donate to this scholarship fund.

Don W. Hicks Legacy Award

Donations to this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior that submits a completed application for the Annual African American Graduation Awards Program and indicates an interest to study arts or music.

Miss Kamilah Okafor Legacy Award

This scholarship is open to all graduating seniors from a school in the Kern High School District. The applicant is required to submit a creative writing essay, be a Bakersfield resident, and plan to pursue a career in English, creative writing, or education.

Keith McKnight Legacy Award

This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors or college freshmen and sophomores majoring in Organizational Leadership and/or a STEM/STEAM discipline.
