A number of scholarships are open to graduating African American high school seniors who apply! Here is a listing:

o Criteria: demonstrated commitment to community service and civic responsibility.

o Criteria: financial need
· Breaking All Barriers Award

o Criteria: wherever there is a need that’s not already covered by other scholarships or donations

· Lynn and Grace Edwards Memorial

o Criteria: Bakersfield High School Student
· Frye Family Scholarship

· Ed Gordon Excellence Award

o Criteria: plans to study STEM careers or psychology
· Shirley Gordon Award

o Criteria: Grade Point Average (GPA), Career Goal, Financial Need and consideration of attending an HBCU
· Nancy W. Green Memorial

Criteria: Grade Point Average (GPA), Financial Need, Female, African American
· Kason Guyton Memorial
o $300
o Criteria: 3.0 or higher GPA
· Michael Curtis Hill Legacy Award
o $200
o Criteria: pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Video Game Design. Secondary would be any career related to technology.
· Charles Benjamin Hodge Education Award

o Criteria: Financial Need
· TJ Jones Memorial Award
o $250
o Criteria: Black male student from Bakersfield High School with a financial need and a 2.5 or better GPA.
· Brent & Diane McClanahan Scholarship
o $500
o Criteria: indicated financial need and is from a Single Parent Home/Low Income
· McKnight Family Award
o $500
o Criteria: 3.0 or higher GPA; Active Member of St. Peter RCCM Church; Engaged in Community Service; Bakersfield, Ridgeview, or Liberty High student; Participated in AKA Program such as #CAP; Major in Education, Environmental Science, Psychology or Business Admin.

o Criteria: East High or BHS graduating senior
· Upside Academy, Inc. Award
