Introducing Legacy Awards

We welcome families and groups that want to work with us to establish a Legacy Award in memory of someone.  The Legacy Award is a way for families and groups to keep the legacy of a loved one alive with a lasting gesture in the form of a scholarship that can be awarded over an extended number of years to an extended number of students. The family, group and the public can donate to this scholarship fund.

You may already be familiar with our Memorial Scholarships (Community Donor or “Option A”). These scholarships are different from Legacy Awards.  While a Memorial Scholarship can be given in honor or memory of a loved one, the total amount donated is awarded at the very next Annual African American Graduation Awards Program.  It is only carried over to the next year if there is not a student matching the criteria. In contrast, a Legacy Award continues yearly based on funding.
